Crawfords
buy one of the top herds in South of Ireland
19/05/2008
The Curraghree herd of Pat Phelan has now joined
the Rathkeeland prefix of Crawford Brothers.
It all started from a telephone call from Pat
one evening to my father Herbie, explaining to
him that he was going to disperse his herd and
that he wanted to give us first chance at it.
Pats reasons for this were
"I wanted to
try and keep the herd together which has been
carefully built up since 1993, and I wanted to
give the herd every chance to continue to be
successful and more importantly breed further
sucess for their new owners, I also wanted them
to be shown and taken to a new level of care
and detail which only people like the Crawfords
could offer, the innovative approach that the
Crawfords have shown with the sexed semen shows
the enthusiasm and forsight in breeding."
We were honoured that Pat spoke these words
and as soon as we saw these cattle, they fitted
in with our plans for the herd and want to congratulate
him and his family on the quality of his cattle
and the attention he has paid to details of genetics
and figures.
