Ulster Bank Press Release
Ulster Bank/NISA Pedigree Beef
Cow Championship 2009
As the 2009 county show season gets underway
Ulster Bank is once again delighted to announce
its sponsorship the Pedigree Beef Cow Championship.
A new feature to this year’s competition
is that in addition to pedigree cows the competition
is also being opened up for the first time to
pedigree in-calf heifers.
The championship is one of the highlights of
the local shows over the summer months and it
is set to attract the best beef cows and in-calf
heifers from across Northern Ireland. Qualifiers
are held at Ballymena, Ballymoney, Lurgan, Armagh,
Saintfield, Newry, Omagh, Londonderry/Limavady,
Castlewellan, Antrim and Clogher Valley Shows.
At each show 2 animals will qualify for the final
to be held at Enniskillen Show on Wednesday 5th
August.
This sponsorship continues to strengthen the
Bank’s commitment to local shows and to
the farming industry in general. Ulster Bank’s
Agricultural Manager, Cormac McKervey, added “the
local shows are a very important part of NI’s
farming and rural calendar and we are delighted
to be sponsoring the Pedigree Beef Cow Championship
again this year.
The championship is a great
occasion to demonstrate and celebrate the quality
of stock produced by local farmers and the inclusion
of in-calf heifers will help further heighten
competition. We look forward to another great
year at local shows and wish all the participants
in the Ulster Bank/NISA Pedigree Beef Cow Championship
the best of luck.”
