Sauvignon and Vigot Progeny
doing their job in New Zealand
Tuesday, 16th March 2010
We have been very happy with the calves of Sauvignon
and Vigot especially those of Sauvignon whose
progeny are exactly the type of beef cattle we
want to breed.
The pregnancy results from the
sexed semen were good. Sexed Semen is an ideal
tool for the stud master of smaller herds who
may wish to have more control over male and female
numbers each year. We have been very happy with
the results and consider that sexed semen has
many advantages for those who use it making it
a worthwhile investment.
This year our show team consisted of Sauvignon
and Vigot progeny. They were great examples of
the Limousin Breed and won many Prizes in various
classes. For us their greatest achievement for
the season was the publicity they created for
the Limousin Breed by their outstanding docility
.Not only were they outstanding examples of beef
animals but they were perfectly behaved and a
pleasure to watch.
It has been an up hill battle for twenty years
to fight the stigma of bad temperament that came
to New Zealand with the Limousin Breed so every
time we are "on show" the docility
is very important. Snake Gully has a reputation
for having quiet cattle and it is something we
consider of the utmost importance.
