Erne Gemma fetches top price
of 5,000gns at Ballymena Limousin Sale
The British Limousin Cattle Society Autumn show
and sale held at Ballymena on Saturday 10th November
2012 realised a working trade with bulls selling
to a top price of 3100gns and females to a top
price of 5,000gns. Most purchases sold to local
commercial and pedigree breeders with the top
priced female heading to mainland UK.
Top price in the bulls was the 3,100gns paid
for the Senior Champion and Overall Reserve Male
Champion Culnagechan General Lee bred by Mr D
Hume, Randalstown. A March born bull, Culnagechan
General Lee is sired by the noted Rainbow Simon
and is out of Glenrock Vivien, a Glenrock Spartacus
daughter. This stylish bull has a Beef Value
of LM+38 and was sold to commercial breeder Mr
Edward Martin, Downpatrick.
Overall Male Champion and Intermediate Champion,
Eniver Gypsy bred by Mr M McKeefry , Garvagh
made the second top price of 3000gns. This April
born bull was sired by Ampertaine Brigadeer,
a Sympa son, and is out of the dam Oxtown Nellie.
Holding a Beef Value of LM+31 this bull was purchased
by Mr B O’Loughlin, Maghera.
Third top priced bull of 2,600 gns went to Junior
Reserve Champion Aghadolgan Grant bred by Mr
R A G Savage, Coleraine. This July born bull
is sired by Sympa and out of dam Cronshill Upopsi
and was sold to Mr S Cairns, Cross.

Taking the top price of the day at 5,000gns
was Erne Gemma bred by Mr R Crawford, Maguiresbridge.
Judge John Allen, Strabane, put this stylish
heifer forward earlier in the day as his Overall
Champion and Female Champion. This February 2011
born heifer is sired by the prolific show winning
bull Sauvignon and is out of the Grahams Samson
sired dam Curraghree Beyonce, a full sister to
the multi award winning Champion Cow in Northern
Ireland this year Curraghree Amazing. Holding
a Beef Value of LM+23 this heifer was sold to
England and to Mr D Boyling who runs the Crabwell
pedigree herd at Crabwell Farm, Mollington, Chester.
Second priced female went to Overall Female
Reserve Champion Beachmount Gucci bred by Messrs
K & C Knox, Irvinestown. This August born
female had a Beef Value of LM+32 and was sired
by Sympa out of a homebred dam Beachmount Delta
a Nenuphar daughter. Beachmount Gucci was sold
to Mr K & J Beattie, Finvoy for 2,800gns.
Third priced female at 2050 gns went to Bloomhill
Felicity, bred by Mr S N Shanks, Tandragee. This
heifer is a Wilodge Tonka daughter out of dam
Brilliance and now heads to her new home at pedigree
breeder Mr S Magill, Newry.
