As 2012 draws to a close the Crawford Bros from Maguiresbridge have rounded off another successful year by scooping several of the top accolades at the NI Limousin Club’s annual dinner and presentation of awards, held recently at Clogher.

Raymond and Stephen Crawford collected the Lusby Shield for the Danske Bank Limousin Show Team of the Year; and the Gordon Trophy, a Border Fine Arts bull, awarded to the herd gaining the most breed championships during the show season.

The Crawfords have been the winners of the prestigious Lusby Shield for five consecutive years, and have won the award a total of eighteen times during the 70-cow herd’s illustrious show career.

The Crawford duo were the outright winners of the Gordon Bull Trophy, having secured seven supreme breed championships on this year’s show circuit – Ballymena, Lurgan, Saintfield, Armagh, Omagh, Clogher Valley and Enniskillen.

Their show team consisted of between seven and seventeen pedigree exhibits at any one show. During the 2012 show season the Crawford family won a total of 153 rosettes, with 70 attained in the Limousin classes - eighty per cent of which were first and second prizes.

Crawford Bros were the winners of the Danske Bank Limousin Show Team of the Year Award. Stephen Crawford received the Lusby Shield from John Henning, head of agricultural relations, at the NI Limousin Club's annual dinner, Clogher.

Established more than 30 years ago, the Rathkeeland and Erne herds, have an impressive show record, and have exported pedigree livestock and genetics to 14 countries worldwide.

Commenting after the presentation Stephen Crawford said: ”Both the Lusby Shield and the Gordon Bull Trophy are highly regarded by Limousin breeders competing on the Northern Ireland show circuit. We’ve had a tremendous year, and are the only Limousin breeders in the country to have secured four overall interbreed championship titles this season. This is a big achievement, especially as we were competing against some super exhibits from the other continental and native beef breeds. “
