Crawfords Celebrate
2012 Show Successes
As 2012 draws to a close the Crawford Bros from
Maguiresbridge have rounded off another successful
year by scooping several of the top accolades
at the NI Limousin Club’s annual dinner
and presentation of awards, held recently at
Clogher.

Raymond and Stephen Crawford collected
the Lusby Shield for the Danske Bank Limousin
Show Team of the Year; and the Gordon Trophy,
a Border Fine Arts bull, awarded to the herd
gaining the most breed championships during the
show season.
The Crawfords have been the
winners of the prestigious Lusby Shield for five
consecutive years, and have won the award a total
of eighteen times during the 70-cow herd’s
illustrious show career.

The Crawford duo were the outright
winners of the Gordon Bull Trophy, having secured
seven supreme breed championships on this year’s
show circuit – Ballymena, Lurgan, Saintfield,
Armagh, Omagh, Clogher Valley and Enniskillen.
Their show team consisted of between seven and
seventeen pedigree exhibits at any one show.
During the 2012 show season the Crawford family
won a total of 153 rosettes, with 70 attained
in the Limousin classes - eighty per cent of
which were first and second prizes.

Established
more than 30 years ago, the Rathkeeland and Erne
herds, have an impressive show record, and have
exported pedigree livestock and genetics to 14
countries worldwide.
Commenting after the
presentation Stephen Crawford said: ”Both
the Lusby Shield and the Gordon Bull Trophy are
highly regarded by Limousin breeders competing
on the Northern Ireland show circuit. We’ve
had a tremendous year, and are the only Limousin
breeders in the country to have secured four
overall interbreed championship titles this season.
This is a big achievement, especially as we were
competing against some super exhibits from the
other continental and native beef breeds. “
