On Saturday 17th September 2005, the Young
Limousin Breeders of Northern Ireland staged
their 4th Annual Calf Spectular and young handlers
championship at Moira Sales Arena.
The event saw an entry of over 100 calves from
all over the province and breeders from England,
Scotland, Wales and Southern Ireland came to
watch the event.
The Crawford entry consisted of 10 calves of
which 9 went home with rosettes. All but 2 were
bred from their own stock bulls.
The first winner of the class, Newlittlemount
Aussie, is out of their own stock bull Omis
B and out of French dam Oulette.

Stephen
Crawford winner of the 21 –30 young
handlers group, winner of the Doherty and
Gray Salver, going on to win 2nd reserve.
Also included is Andrew Hyde from Hyde
Feeds, sponsors of the class. |
The next class winner was an
April born calf Newlittlemount Auric this much
admired calf is out of stock bull called Tetrio
B which won the overall champion at
the Royal Welsh Show in August. The dam is
the Crawford’s show cow Millbrook
Senhorita that was unbeaten herself
as a heifer in the show circuit. These are
the first calves to be presented out of these
bulls.
The Crawford’s also
had the best group of pedigree calves by the one
sire Omis
B.

From the Newlittlemount herd there was 10 calves
present at the show and 9 calves went home with
rosettes with some of the classes having 20 entries
and upwards, between the results at the calf
show and the success in the Northern Ireland
herd competition it was a great day for the Crawford
herd.
The Crawford family would like to congratulate
the Young Limousin Breeders Club in staging
an excellent event such as the calf show and
wish them continued success for the future. |
